Does Your Pet Have 3,000 Nicknames? If So, You'll Totally Relate To These People
Does Your Pet Have 3,000 Nicknames? If So, You'll Totally Relate To These People
When was the last time you called your pet by the name you actually gave them?
For some pet owners, the answer might be longer ago than you'd expect. The reality is that as we get to know our animals' personalities, we often assign them nicknames based on our experiences with them. I call my pup, who flops around on the ground all day, a "little seal" more often than I use his name.
When Twitter user @MooseAllain shared his own pet's nickname online, a lot of hilarity ensued when people started sharing theirs, too. Here are 20 of the most hilarious.
Archibald Archer > Archie > Archie Boo-boo > Boo-boo > Boobs > Lord Boobington

Also: Wilson > Pickle > Bumface, which doesn't quite have the same sense of evolution. pic.twitter.com/ZCgCcmyN90
We had a cat called Carpet (because her fur looked like an orange and brown bedsit carpet)
Carpet had kittens. The two we kept were Mat and Rug. (Small carpets)
My dog is Stan, but mostly “Oh bloody hell Stanley”
Our cat, Ceremony, is mostly referred to as Cat. When we have a visitor, though, we revert to her real name so that we can say, "Come in, but don't stand on Ceremony"
Martha, Martha Moomintroll, Martha Moomintroll Meakins, Marmite, Mook, Moothy, Twatsticks Fandango. That last one was a swerve none of us were expecting.
We inherited a second hand idiot Labrador already named Reuben 7 years ago. He's Roo-bow-boo, Boo-boo, Reubix Cube, The Cube, Reubpunzel (let down your dog hair).
Poppy, aka Popsicle, Poppycat, The Popster, Pipsqueak, Purball, Poirot, Honeybadger, The Badger, Bumfluff/Fluffybum, The Fishmonster, Squeaker, Lil Squeaky, Squeaky McSqueakerson, Smellycat, Slaughterer of Mice, The Supervisor, World's Worst Cushion, Tiny Lion, Tuxedo Tiger [280]
Our cat is called Megatron, Meg for short. He gets called Meg-face, Meggy-moo, Moo-face, Moogles, Megsie and, by our nearly-2-year-old, "Beg".
Alfie, Alf, Alfredo, Beardface, the phantom pant stealer of old London Town...
Our three cats are Lounge (because he resembles a brown velour sofa from the 1970s), Bin Cat (always sitting on one) and PsychoMog (no explanation needed). Needless to say, none of those are their real names.
My old dog was Susie. She quickly became Schnooky, then Schnooky Schnoo, ending up as LTJ Schnookem
Sylvie is our dog’s name. But: Sylv, Sylvoid, Sylvain Sylvain, Foxface Alpha, Foxtwat, Meatlog, Logmeat, Logdog, etc. etc.
This is Maggie (short for Magnolia). But she’s usually either “Joe Mangle”… Or John short for “Pupper John” (like the pizzas)
A former rescue moggy started off as Eric Catona but became Fatty which my then toddler pronounced Farty. Fatty had big whiskers like a moustache so my barrister friend Bungle announced that Fatty’s full name was Sir Topham Fatt QC (quality cat).
Our dog is Tibbs aka Mr Tibbs aka Tibber, Tibbnacious D, the Tibbmeister General, the Meister, Mister Meister, the Hairmeister and The Hound
Our cat Tobi was aka “Doctor Ronaldus Maximus Cambrensis Tobi Mau Square-face Tollemache-Tollemache Thomas”. This was known as his “short name”.
Truffle became Truffage, then Truff-fadge, to Fadgey Boy. Also he’s got some great teeth on him so he’s Sharky Boy, or frequently Sharknado.
Technically our dog is called Rosenbach Boodles. But we named her Iggle (like Iggle Piggle) then: Ig, Piglet, Piglington, Piglington Doglington the third, and now just Doglington (literally what our 3yo calls her)
Dog was Margo, but mostly she was Beagle, Chumly Beagle, Fluffy (she was not at all fluffy) and sometimes Happy Birthday because that sent her over the edge
